Taking Advantage of New Infrastructure, Suzhou Xiangcheng Leads on New Track of Internet of Vehicles
In recent years, Xiangcheng District of Suzhou City has been nurturing emerging R & D enterprises, accelerating cutting-edge technological breakthroughs and model innovations, promoting the collaborative development of “5G + Internet of Vehicles” and built a sound industrial ecology. On the track of a new round of competition, Xiangcheng has embarked on a unique path of development, leading by its strength.
On May 20th, three small buses with overhead cameras and radars are driving in a row on the 8.4km smart network connected public test road of the first phase of the Suzhou High-speed Railway New City. This is the scene that appears when the autonomous driving test formation runs. “The core elements of the Internet of Vehicles are cars, roads, and networks. As a provincial-level Internet of Vehicles pilot zone, Xiangcheng is working hard on these three elements to create a small yet beautiful, precise, and comprehensive test area, aiming at building a pilot field of transforming travel mode,” said Chen Guoping, chairman of Suzhou High Speed Rail New City Artificial Intelligence Operation Service Co., Ltd.
According to information, as early as May 2019, Xiangcheng has cooperated with Suzhou Mobile to launch Xiangcheng’s “5G” mode. In February 2020, the China Telecom Industry Cloud (Suzhou) Base project was successfully signed. At the same time, the second-phase demonstration test road with a total length of 27.5 kilometers is also planned for construction in 2020.
In combination with the construction of the 2022 Intelligent Transportation World Congress Demonstration Zone, Xiangcheng also cooperates to promote the construction of Xiangcheng Digital Transportation Demonstration Zone, and the intelligent network transformation of G524 Xiangcheng section and S9 Suzhou City Ring Expressway, covering the test roads to the national and provincial highways and city main and secondary road, exploring the establishment of a cross-region Internet of Vehicles application layout. At present, Xiangcheng District has gathered 56 intelligent enterprises related to driving, which covers more than 30 subdivisions.
In order to accelerate the integration and cooperation of upstream and downstream enterprises, Xiangcheng District has also established the Intelligent Connected Automobile Industry Federation, and has held the International (Suzhou) Intelligent Driving Technology Innovation Competition (for two consecutive sessions), the Global Intelligent Driving Summit and the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor Intelligent Driving Industry Summit, and built a technology and industry exchange platform.
